How To Make a DIY Grinch Christmas
Wood Round
It’s beginning to look a lot like Grinch ‘Mas! Yes it’s that time of year again, my favorite time of year – Christmastime. And it’s never too early to plan out your Christmas decorations. A really fun Christmas theme you can try this year is to have a very Merry Grinch ‘Mas!
Sorry for all the Grinch puns, but I just can’t help myself. Not only are Grinch decorations really cute, but they are also a really fun way to celebrate Christmas. Your kids, Grandkids, family members, and friends will love it.
As I continue to strive to decorate and give Christmas gifts on a budget this year, I decided to make this adorable Grinch wood round that I found at my local Dollar Tree. If you are having a difficult time finding these wood rounds in your local Dollar Tree, I would highly recommend ordering them online and getting them shipped to your home or to your preferred local store.
This Christmas craft has to be one of the easiest and cheapest ones I’ve made to date. I can’t wait to share with you just how easy this was to make. Not only will you save money, but you also, won’t spend too much of your time as well.
You can hang this on your front door with your other Outdoor Christmas Decor, add it to your indoor decorations, or give these out as Christmas gifts. So, gather all your supplies and make your very own Grinch Christmas decorations!
Materials you’ll need:
- Cricut Machine
- Wood round 12″
- Cricut Mat
- Permanent Black and Yellow Vinyl
- Apple Barrel – New Shamrock Green Paint
- Red Bow
- Paint Brush
- Vinyl Transfer Tape
- Hot glue and glue gun

Instructions:
Paint the Wood Round
Remove the twine from the wood round and paint it with new shamrock green paint. I used about 3 coats of paint, and then allow it dry.
Apply the Vinyl
Download the FREE Grinch SVG file here. Upload the file to Cricut Design Space. Use your Cricut machine to cut the permanent black and yellow vinyl, and then attach it to your wood round using transfer tape.
I set the measurements to 9 inches wide and 6 inches in height. For me, that was the perfect measurement for this almost 12 inch wood round. I really love the permanent vinyl I used for this project. It comes in a bundle of over 50 colors on Amazon and it was easy to work with, plus there were a few transfer tape sheets included.
Attach a Bow or Santa hat
Okay, you actually don’t need to do this step if you don’t want to. The grinch face is cute all by itself. But, I decided I wanted to add either a bow or Santa hat.
Unfortunately, I realized I didn’t have any red ribbon at home to make a bow or a Santa hat, so to save time and money, I found an old red bow my daughter no longer uses and hot glued it to the upper left side of the wood round. I think it turned out really cute.
Hang Your Wood Round
Reattach the twine and hang your adorable and easy to make DIY Grinch Christmas Decor to the front door. You can also display it indoors with your Christmas decorations if you would like or give it away as a Christmas gift.
