How To Make Dollar Tree DIY Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Christmas Decor
Joy To The World the Lord Has Come! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs to celebrate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s birth. Not only do I love this song, but I also love Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Christmas Decorations. This has been my Christmas theme for the past 2 years.
That is why I am so happy to show you how to make this wood sign using buffalo check vinyl. I was so excited to run across this permanent vinyl on Amazon and just love how my project turned out.
Making this DIY wood sign was easy and cheap to make. My local Dollar Tree has started putting out some of their Christmas Decorations, and I was able to find all my ribbon there to create an adorable bow that I attached to my sign.
This turned out so cute, and it makes me want to have red and black buffalo plaid as my theme again this year. For all you farmhouse decor lovers out there, this is the perfect Christmas theme for you. So, gather all your supplies and get ready to make your very own Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Christmas decorations!
Materials you’ll need:
- Cricut Machine
- Wood round 12″
- Cricut Mat
- Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Permanent Vinyl
- White Paint
- Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Ribbon – 2.5 inch
- Buffalo Plaid Farmhouse Truck Ribbon – 2.5 inch
- Red Ribbon – 2.5 inch
- Silver Ribbon – 5/8 inch
- Paint Brush
- Vinyl Transfer Tape
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
- Red Tinsel Pipe Cleaners

Instructions:
Paint the Wood Round
Remove the twine from the wood round and paint it with white matte paint. I used about 3 coats of paint, and then allow it dry.
Apply the Vinyl
Download the FREE Joy To The World SVG file here. Upload the file to Cricut Design Space. Use your Cricut machine to cut the permanent red and black buffalo plaid vinyl, and then attach it to your wood round using transfer tape.
Make a Bow
For this particular project, I decided I wanted to make a cute bow. Â To create this bow, I measured each piece of ribbon at 8 inches.
I cut 2 pieces of each ribbon – red ribbon, buffalo plaid ribbon, and buffalo plaid farmhouse truck ribbon. Cut three pieces of silver ribbon as the third piece will be used to wrap around the center.
Now cut a dove tail on each piece of ribbon. Next take each piece of ribbon and criss cross them one over the other in the order you would like.
Pinch the ribbon in the middle and wrap it with a red tinsel pipe cleaner. Take one piece of silver ribbon and hot glue it around the center to cover up the pipe cleaner. Trim your ribbon as needed. Attach the bow to the upper left side of the wood round.
Hang Your Wood Round
Reattach the twine and hang your cute and easy to make DIY Red and Black Buffalo Plaid Wood Sign to the front door. You can also display it indoors with your Christmas decorations if you would like or give it away as a Christmas gift.
This Dollar Tree DIY Red and Black Buffalo Plaid DIY Christmas Decor wood sign turned out better than I imagined. I absolutely love it, and still can hardly believe this was created with items from my local Dollar Tree.
