Do you need to save money fast?

It’s a crazy time in the US right now with everything going on.

Many people are unable to go to work and are understandably concerned.

Not knowing how long the current uproar is going to last may have you worried and wondering what you are going to do if you are not paid.

Firstly, if you are a Christian, remind yourself of what the Word of God says, that he will supply all your needs according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.

God is faithful and will never let you down. Put your trust in him and believe what he says.

After you have that settled think of some practical things you can do to keep more money in your household.

When you need to save money fast, first look over all your expenses and go through what is an actual NEED and what you can do without.

Here are 10 things I have done to save money fast during difficult times:

Put your student loan on deferment or forbearance

If you have a student loan, putting that loan on deferment or forbearance is a great way to keep more of your liquid cash. Be sure to contact your student loan servicer to see what is the best option for you.

    Cook more to save money

With the CDC recommending social distancing, this may be the time to cook affordable meals at home. Eating out can be more expensive, while cooking at home with enough for leftovers can save a substantial amount of money. Cheap crock pot meals and instant pot meals can help you save greatly.

    Buy from Amazon

    Work from home

If you are able to work from home do so. This can save you money on gas and limit your exposure to the virus. Ask your employer if this an option and if you can begin working from home immediately.

    Use Coupons

This is the best time to become a coupon expert. Instead of throwing those coupons away begin clipping them and using them on qualified purchases. Learn from the pros such as the krazy coupon lady to get great tips on how to coupon.

    Ask for a discount

Many companies offer discounts to a certain group of people. For instance, when we stay in certain hotels, because my husband is a teacher we get a discount on our rooms.

Many teachers, military personnel, and others receive discounts at many stores.

    DIY Everything

If you are handy, DIY everything you can.

When things need to be fixed around the house, if it is something that doesn’t require a professional, you can save money by doing it yourself.

Also, you can always go to Youtube if you need to watch any tutorials on how to do something.

    Get rid of cable

There are so many different cheap alternatives to cable. You can simply get a Netflix subscription, watch shows online, or if you have an Amazon prime membership you can use your prime benefit and stream unlimited tv shows and movies.

    Cut unnecessary expenses

Check all your monthly expenses and decide what you can cut and what you can’t.

For instance, if your kid is out of school right now due to cancellation, you may also consider canceling their after school activities.

I pay $70 per month for dance for my daughter and they have canceled classes all week as well. If this continues, this is one expense I will definitely eliminate.

This may be a hard time for you, but remember to never lose hope. There is always a solution to every problem!
